FAQ

How do I book my charter?

There are several ways to set up a trip. You can call, email, use our online booking calendar, or even text Captain Jay at the following:

Is a deposit necessary?

Yes, a deposit is necessary in order to hold your date. You can use a credit card to hold your date, and we will only get authorization for a 50% deposit. The full amount will be paid on the morning of the charter, on the boat.

Which fishing charter is better, morning -vs- afternoon ?

It’s and old wives tale that fishing early in the morning is the best. We have great catches on both charters. However the morning charter may be better for schooling fish like Mackerel & King fish. Afternoon trips may some days be better for Sailfish & Big Sharks, they turn on just before sun starts to fall in the western sky and set. Although I suggest choosing the charter that fits your schedule best, we will have a great catch on either trip !

Can charter fishing boats only take six people ?

USCG rules state that any unlicensed charter fishing boat can take up to six people out on a for hire charter. Does not matter if it a row boat or 120 foot yacht. In order to take more than six people the boat must be licensed and annually inspected by the USCG. Becoming a licensed passenger vessel is very difficult and has a price tag of about a million dollars. That is why there are so few charter fishing boats that can take the larger groups. Our 57 “Spellbound” is USCG licensed for up to 27 Passengers.

Some charter companies guarantee fish, do you?

We all know there are very few guarantees in life, and fishing is no exception. Some charter companies will use this deceptive claim in order to lure clients. What they fail to tell you, is what type of fish that satisfies their claim as bait fish count as part of your catch. No reputable operation will guarantee you any specific catch, although we will guarantee that we will try to make that great catch every day. With all of the different fishing opportunities, it is a very rare day that we would not catch a fish

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes, but will provide you your fishing license when you arrive at the boat. We carry a special Florida vessel license that covers all of our passengers.

How to pay for my trip?

Cash and credit cards accepted. Checks are accepted for deposits or full amounts, but must be recived at least two week prior to your charter date.

What is the cost?

Rates vary depending on the particular trip chosen and the number of people in your group. Please check out our rates page, or contact us for additional information.

How many people can come along?

Our USCG Licensed boat Spellbound can carry up to 20 (twenty) people, and our smaller boat can carry a maximum number of six (six).

What is the cancellation policy?

Charters are typically only cancelled due to extreme weather.  Weather cancellations are only made at the discretion of the captain.  In the event of a weather cancellation by the captain 100% of the deposit amount will be refunded.  Trips cancelled for any other reason must be cancelled at least 14 (fourteen) days prior to the trip or a 50% deposit will be forfeited.

Can we do a “shared” split charter?

We do occasionally offer a “shared” or split party fishing charter & charge $200 per-person. The shared charter rate is higher than the private charter to compensate for trips that sail with only 3 people, and the added administrative work to build multiple party trips.

Do I need to bring a cooler?

No. We have a refrigerator, Microwave oven, Coolers, and ice are at your disposal as part of your charter. Simply bring your food and drinks and we’ll take care of every thing else.

What should I bring on my fishing charter?

Just bring your food and drinks, a camera, sunglasses, hat & wear comfortable cloths.
